Second Dose Covid-19 jab programme resumes, as covid kills 50 in the last 24 hrs

The Ministry of Health has resumed the covid19 second dose of the of the AstraZeneca vaccine vaccination program.
And the Ministry has disclosed in the last 24 hours, 3,367 new confirmed COVID-19 cases out of 12,952 tests conducted were recorded with 50 deaths.
In April Zambia received the first consignment of 228,000 doses of the vaccine from the COVAX facility and over 120, 000 people were vaccinated under the first dose.
Speaking during the launch of the resumption of the second dose vaccination program at Kalingalinga Clinic in Lusaka, Ministry of Health Permanent secretary for technical services Kenndey Malama has called on Zambians who received their first dose to get a second dose when it is due to get maximum protect against the virus.
Dr Malama has however indicated that priority will be given to those who received the first jab before allowing those that did not receive the first dose.
Dr. Malama is happy that the country has not recorded any serious side effects from those who received the first dose contrary to social media myths about AstraZeneca.
