BID cases increase at UTH

Inside information from the University Teaching Hospital UTH mortuary indicate that the number of brought in dead cases have risen in the past few weeks, a situation attributed to covid-19.

And it has been further reviewed that the mortuary at the University Teaching Hospital-UTH are struggling with space as it is full following the rise in the number mortalities.

An hour cannot pass without a BID being registered at the police post before being taken to the mortuary.

During a spot check conducted by Millennium Radio, people spoken to have raised concern with others say it is possible the official figures of covid-19 deaths may be higher than reported.

During the same check, Millennium Radio discovered that the inflow of patients generally coming to the facility is overwhelming, compared to days before the third wave of covid-19 started.

And members of the public have raised concern that most testing centres have run out of facilities, a situation that calls for urgent action.

But others attended to for issues unrelated to covid-19 at UTH are happy that they were tested for covid-19 too.

However, many feel that the world needs an urgent solution to the covid situation as it is inconveniencing to get the nasal swap every time they visit the facility

Meanwhile inside sources at the Lusaka Trust Hospital says the situation is equally dire as the facility continues to receive covid-19 patients on a daily basis. Medical personnel are overwhelmed with the situation as it is unprecedented since Zambia declared the covid-10 pandemic.
