Democracy and Motherland Defenders Coalition says it has lost confidence in the police command in policing the 2021 general election owing to continued levels of political violence experienced.
Coalition Spokesperson Andrew Ntewewe says it is saddening that despite the Inspector General of Police being on six month probation; very little improvement has been recorded from the entire police command’s ability to conduct electoral policing.
Speaking at a press briefing this morning, Mr Ntewewe called on President Edgar Lungu to take drastic action and ensure the country effectively guards its peace and stability.
Meanwhile, Mr Ntewewe says it is retrogressive for some political players in their campaigns to underplay the devastating impact of Covid-19, whose current statistics are frightening.
He has since commended the Electoral Commission of Zambia for its well thought out decision to impose restrictions on political parties through the suspension of roadshows for campaigns.
