THE three day highly competitive Magnum tournament teed off yesterday at Lusaka’s Chainamama Golf Club, marking yet another successful Professional Golfers Association of Zambia (PGAZ) event.
Among the notable golfers at the event are Chilanga golfer Dezzie Ng’angu, who is looking to launch a campaign to dethrone Madalitso Muthiya’s dominance .
Muthiya has been a dominant force in the PGAZ organised tournaments, winning all but one of the events stretching back to last year.
But aside from wanting to beat Muthiya, Ngandu will have to deal with other highly promising players also wanting the top prize.
The first round draw for the Magnum Classic shows that seasoned Sunshine Tour campaigner Dayne Moore would be in the mix and so would Senegalese golfer star Samba Niang.
Other foreign players that at the tournament are Malawi’s top golfer Paul Chidale as well as his compatriots in Adack Sailes and Victor Kachepatsonga who both had a good outing at the Prudential Classic.
The local professionals’ line-up also has Sydney Wemba, Gabriel Chibale, Mwalikwa Sondashi, Kelvin Chibuye, Morton Muwowo, Patrick Mwendapole Snr and Beza Daka among others.
