The Independent Broadcast Authority-IBA has urged the traditional media to be ethical in reporting during the entire forth coming 2021 general elections.

IBA vice board chairperson Chalimba Phiri says media plays a critical role during the coming elections as it is yardstick to determine whether the elections were free and fair.

Speaking during the IBA media engagement ahead of the elections, Mr. Phiri says it is imperative for journalists to report fairly on all the candidates and participating parties by ensuring there is impartiality, accuracy and responsibility.

He also says social media is here to stay but the fact cannot be denied that there is a lot of misinformation on social media hence the need for the traditional media to maintain its relevance amongst the masses.

Mr. Phiri also advised both radio and television stations  to engage the police before hosting politicians during this period for safety purposes.
