MANSA District Commissioner (DC), James Nyenjele says the elimination of malaria needs a multi-sectoral approach as
the effects of the disease affects every sector in society.
Mr Nyenjele noted that the responsibility to eliminate the disease goes beyond the health sector.
The DC said this in a speech read for him by District Administrative Officer (DAO), Judith Nyirenda during the official opening of
the District Malaria Taskforce meeting at Mansa School of Nursing yesterday.
He stated that government is committed to eliminating malaria hence has put up a number of interventions aimed at eliminating
the disease.
“Heads of Government Departments are increasingly engaged, this level of leadership commitment brings determination in
eliminating malaria,” he observed.
“Government has shown its commitment in the fight against Malaria, and put in place a number of interventions, it is upto us
stakeholders to take these interventions seriously,” Mr Nyenjele said.
He urged the Taskforce to accelerate efforts aimed eliminating malaria adding that the resourcefulness of communities should
never be left behind in the fight.
Mr Nyenjele has further called on the Taskforce to be united if they are yield positive results on the intended interventions.
