Kalulushi MP donates to bus drivers’ association

KALULUSHI Member of Parliament Kampamba Chewe has donated K50, 000 as empowerment funds to the Chibuluma Bus Drivers’ Association.
Ms Chewe who is also Minister Community Development and Services said the money will be used as a revolving fund to boost their business activities.
She said that government will continue to empower youths to sustain their livelihood.
She said this in Kalulushi during the elective meeting for the Bus Drivers Association held at Umulu Pleasure Resort in Kalulushi District on the Copperbelt Province.
The Minister said government has realised that the effects of COVID 19 has not spared businesses.
She said the donation is just a small token to push members of the association to earn an extra income.
She also disclosed that her office will be distributing mealie meal every month to reduce on the burden families are facing during the period of COVID-19.
The Kalulushi lawmaker also commended the association for following the health regulations set to prevent the spread of COVID-19 on public buses.
Bus and Taxi Owners Association Chairperson Boas Mwakila appealed to government to lift the ban on night travel saying it has negatively affected their business.
Mr Mwakila also called for the reduction or complete removal of presumptive tax on the transportation business.
And in a Vote of thanks Sectary for the Association Wallace Malambowho thanked government for the donation assured the MP that the donation will be put to good use.
