COMMUTER Rights Association of Zambia president Aron Kamuti has called on passengers to ensure that they do not use buses without hand sanitizers.
In an interview Mr Kamuti said that most bus owners and drivers are ignoring the guidelines of sanitizing passengers and ensuring that all passengers wear face masks.
He said that authorities should take serious action on local bus owners who are defying the guidelines of wearing masks and sanitizing passengers if the fight is to be won.
Mr Kamuti said that authorities should start impounding buses which are not following the guidelines to prevent the spread of the pandemic.
He observed that government through the ministry of health is doing everything possible to prevent the spread of the virus but that some individuals are frustrating government efforts by not following the guidelines.
Earlier in the week, Mr Kamuti conducted sensitization of bus drivers and marketeers at Ten Miles bus station and market.
He, however, expressed concern with low levels of compliance at the market and buses.
Mr Kamuti said that more should be done to ensure that there is compliance both at the market and bus station.
He since called on market and bus station leadership to ensure that they sensitize the masses on the dangers of Coronavirus.
“As you can see most people are taking it casual, there are not complying to the guidelines outlined by the ministry of health.
“Most people are ignorant about the pandemic which is a danger because once one contracts the virus, more people can be affected within a short period of time,” he said.
