ZAMBIA national women’s team coach, Bruce Mwape, has urged Botswana national women’s team to improve on their self-esteem to become great competitors in Africa.

Speaking after Zambia beat Botswana 2-0 in the return leg fixture played on Tuesday in Francis Town, to advance 3-0 on aggregate, Mwape said Botswana has a lot of good players who can help the team to become a power house in the region.

Mwape hailed the She-polopolo for keeping their 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifying dream alive by thumping Botswana to set up a meeting with Kenya who eliminated Ghana following a 1-0 aggregate victory.

Mwape said the She-polopolo played according to instructions and deserved the victory away from home to advance to the next round of the Tokyo Olympics qualifiers.

“I’m very happy with the performance of the girls. They actually played as a team.  They were able to play and create chances which is good for us,” Mwape said.

“Like I said before, we came not to defend but to attack and get goals which we did and it is good for the team going forward,” Mwape said.

Meanwhile, Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) life member, Peter Makembo has cautioned the She-polopolo not to underrate their next opponents, Kenya.

The FAZ life member who is also Zambia Sports Fans (ZASPOFA) patron, said there is need for the She-polopolo to stay focused to eliminate Kenya which he describe as a good team after they eliminated Ghana to set up a meeting with the She-polopolo.

Makembo reaffirmed his association’s commitment to continue playing its raw as a 12th player for the team to realise its dream of qualifying for the Tokyo Olympic games.
