FANS MOBILIZED TO CHEER COPPER QUEENS

THE Zambian mission in Botswana has mobilized support for the women’s national soccer team it plays Botswana in Francistown tomorrow.
Deputy High Commissioner, Goodwell Lungu, has appealed to Zambians based in Francistown and beyond to turn up in numbers to support the ‘copper queens’.
In a statement issued to the Sun Sport by press secretary Kasabo Kalusa, Lungu said he would lead a delegation from the embassy to render support to the team on Tuesday at Francistown Sports Centre.
The women’s soccer team arrived in Francistown yesterday.
The ‘copper queens’ will play Botswana in the second leg of the third round of the road to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifiers at the Francistown Sports Complex.
Mr. Lungu explained that the occasion will provide an opportunity for the Zambian mission to interact with the Zambian community in Francistown on issues of mutual interest and deepen linkages.
Meanwhile, ‘copper queens coach, Bruce Mwape, has declared his players ready to defend the 1 – 0 home win over Botswana when the two teams clashed in the leg at Nkoloma Stadium on Wednesday.
Mwape has assured soccer fans to expect a great performance from the senior national women’s team.
The winner of the two legs will qualify for the next round and face Ghana, Kenya or Gabon.
The match kicks off tomorrow at 19.00hrs.
