BUSINESSMAN DANCES OVER MUSIC EQUIPMENT HE HAS NOT PAID FOR

A BUSINESSMAN of Mazabuka who has failed to settle his outstanding bill of K2, 900 for music equipment he go last year has been ordered by the Boma Local Court to instead pay back K3,500.
This was a case in which Nicholas Mulenga, 47 of Kabangwe took Albert Kabinda, 42, to court to recover his money which the latter owes him for music equipment he got from him.
Mulenga told senior local court magistrate Peggy Nyambe that Kabinda has been owing him money since April, 2018.
“Between April and May last year, Kabinda came to my business place at Simoson building where I sell music equipment.
He got things including an amplifier and a bass bin box.
He got things worth K5, 900 and he paid K3, 000,
“I’ve been following him up, making calls and trying to recover that balance of K2, 900 but it’s been stories.
At some point I was admitted in hospital for a month and run out of money so my wife is the one who was trying to follow him up and call him,” he said.
He said Kabinda kept promising to send the money but never did and blocked him and his wife even on WhatsApp.
“He only started communicating with me when he received the summon.
I want him to pay me that money with interest because he has taken long and affected my business,” Mulenga said.
In defence Kabinda did not deny owing Mulenga K2, 900. He however said he needed some time to organize the money.
“I need some time because at the moment there’s no money and I’m about to close my bar.
Since the matter is in the hands of the court he should be guaranteed that I will pay him,” he said.
He however said he would not pay with interest because they did not sign on any papers to say the money should be paid with interest.
Magistrate Nyambe ordered Kabinda to pay Mulenga K3, 500 for taking long to pay.
