SOCCER administrator Blackwell Siwale has questioned FAZ’s commitment towards the development of women football in Zambia.
Siwale argued that only two provinces had active women football league and wondered what FAZ meant when it said the league was active in four provinces.
He said it was unfortunate that FAZ was reactive instead of being pro -active when it had to wait for a directive from CAF to constitute a desk for women football when the association could have done it on its own.
The FAZ presidential aspirant wondered why that type of support had not been given to the teams in other four provinces.
Siwale was reacting to FAZ president Andrew Kamanga’s announcement that his organisation was on course to development omen soccer in Zambia.
Kamanga made the announcement when he featured on SuperSports Soccer Africa programme on Thursday last week where he said FAZ was on course to develop the women sport in Zambia which had seen the league being active in four of the ten provinces.
“If Kamanga is saying there are teams already existing in four provinces , then what kind of assistance today is FAZ offering to these teams , have they given them equipment, have they offered them money or training ground,
“Look we shall be going to Ghana for the Olympics in four years’ time and the girls who are going to be under 20 are 15 years old today, so has FAZ started scouting for these girls because if we are going to meaningfully participate in this tournament then the journey begins now and we are not doing anything,” Siwale said
Siwale said that the office of the technical director was supposed to be pro-active in organizing women football development because there was money allocated by FIFA meant for football development.
FAZ through its technical department last week said it was going to comply with CAF directive to constitute a women football technical department.
