THE Lusaka magistrate court has ordered a 16 year old male juvenile to under-go counseling for three months after he admitted stealing a bicycle.

Magistrate Nsunge Chanda ordered that the juvenile receive counseling at the Prison Care and Counselling Association (PRISCA)  for stealing a bicycle.

This was heard in a matter in which the juvenile stole the bicycle from Jacob Siamutwe’s house.

Facts before the court were that on July 31, Mr. Siamutwe parked his bicycle outside his house inn the veranda.

Mr. Siatumwe saw the boy through the window around 11:30 getting away his bicycle. He rushed out and started chasing the boy.

Mr. Siamutwe caught the boy and took him to the police.

The boy said he was sorry and will not steal again.

He wanted to go back to school so that he could help his parents in future.

His father said he had warned his son to never steal again.

He said he will be strict in disciplining him and asked for court’s leniency.

Magistrate Chanda said she did not want to see the boy in court again.

“How are you going to assist your parents who brought you on Earth if you keep on stealing?

“This court is not for you, you are very young and shouldn’t be here. Don’t steal people’s things again,” she said.

She told the father to return the boy to court if he did not change.

The court then ordered that the juvenile receives counselling at the Prisons Care and Counselling Association (PRISCA).
