Unknown people loot Burundese-owned shop

A shop in Lusaka’s Mtendere Township, belonging to a Burundian national, was on Wednesday night looted by unknown people who reportedly also stole goods worth more than K80, 000.
Shop owner, Palumeri Niyogusenyongusenga, told the Sun in an interview some people broke into his shop around 20:00 hours and stole all his goods, leaving it empty.
Mr Niyogusenyongusenga, who has lived in Zambia for a year now, expressed sadness over the incident and likened it to the xenophobia attacks in South Africa.
He named some of the stolen goods as cooking oil, sugar, mealie meal, soft drinks and soaps.
“On Wednesday, I was shocked when my shop was looted by unknown people around 20:00 hours and they took all my goods worth more than K80, 000.
“They were a lot l could not count them and they were busy shouting foreigners this incident has really left me in shook,” he said.
Mr Niyogusenyongusenga explained that he was in the shop at the time the looters broke in but good advised him to immediately leave to avoid being harmed.
