THE construction of the first ever 150-bed US$ 160,000 clinic in Lusaka’s John Laing Township by the Muslim Society has reached 70 percent completion.
John Laing Muslim Society chairperson Ismail Phiri said construction works that started last year had reached 70 percent and was hopeful that the clinic would be finished next year in June.
In an interview with the Sun, Mr Phiri said as a society they had consecrated on building the clinic first so that it could be operational and to enable resident of the township access services of the health facility.
Mr Phiri said once the building was completed it would have wards with a bed capacity of 150.
“Construction of the first ever John Laing clinic is on course and so far we have reached 70 percent, some of the things that the building will have are five different consultation rooms administration block, wards and labour ward among others,
“Right now, we have concentrated on building the administration block, consultation rooms among others after that we will build the wards with a 150-bed capacity,” he said.
Mr Phiri said the Muslim society would work hand in hand with government and with some health workers from United Kingdom to ensure that the community received special health care.
