ZAMBIA under-23 national soccer team yesterday left for Congo Brazzaville to play that country in a second leg Egypt U-23 AfCON qualifier tomorrow.
The full junior Chipolopolo carry a two- one goal advantage going into the final round of qualifiers having beaten Congo through Fashion Sakala’s brace.
And Zambia coach Bestone Chambeshi said he expected an open game when the two sides meet in Pointe Noire.
Chambeshi said his team would aim at making use of its chances when in the second leg.
He said that it was anybody’s game but with proper preparations, he felt his team will utilize more of their chances.
“All I can say is that we have played the first half and now we have the second leg, I believe in my team they can come out and do wonders so it will be a good game playing away from home,
We look forward to the returning game I have confidence in my team however it will be an open game in Congo so we will see how we can handle our preparations,” Chambeshi said.
The winner over the two legs will qualify to the 2019 AFCON that will be hosted by Egypt in November.
The top three teams at the tournament will qualify to the Tokyo 2020
Zambia played at the last under-23 tournament which was held in Senegal in November 2015.
The last time the national soccer team made it to the Olympics was at the 1988 games held in Seoul, South Korea in which the KK 11 went as far as the quarter finals.
