FALLEN HEROES KARATE TOURNEY ON

THE Kofukan Karate Association of Zambia (KKAZ) is this Saturday set to host a fallen heroes tournament to be held at the National sports Development Centre (NASDEC).
Association spokesperson Humphrey Kayukwa said the event would be dubbed ‘International Freedom Fighters Karate’ tournament.
Kayukwa said that the tournament has attracted participation from regional teams which include Zimbabwe, DR Congo and Botswana who will join hosts Zambia.
He said the event was an open tournament which would also see participation from Zambia-based dojos which includes Kofukan Rockwview, Nampundwe, Chirundu, Mufulira, Lundazi, Kaoma and the Lusaka City Council owned Tomiyama Dojo.
Kayukwa said that since the tournament was a semi contact sport, the association had also extended an invitation to other arts such as Green Buffaloes, Green Eagles and other clubs dotted around Zambia.
He said being the second time that Zambia was hosting the tournament, the Karate body had prepared adequately for the international event.
“As Zambia, we have not stopped training, because this event is on our calendar and this is not the first time we are hosting it but the second time and just like our system of Karate is, we don’t stop training,
“Training is part of our lives so we just increase on what we do and we have just intensified training because we usually skip a day but on this one we are training everyday till a day before the tournament kicks off,” Kayukwa said.
The martial arts body has appealed to the public to turn up in numbers to not only support the sport but Zambia as a team.
Kofukan was a special form of martial art which was affiliated to the Zambia Martial Arts Association (ZMAA).
