THE offer by AVIC International to construct a road in Kanyama Constituency has cheered Member of Parliament Elizabeth Phiri.

Ms Phiri said AVIC had offered to construct a road in Kanyama during the Keep Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy Campaign (KZCGHC) exercise that held in the constituency on Saturday.

Ms Phiri said she was grateful to all the companies that showed up in Kanyama and contributed in different ways to ensure the cleaning exercise took place through their corporate social responsibility.

She said the construction of a 600-metre road in Kanyama, which passed through the market, would benefit the marketeers and the people living in that area.

Ms Phiri said once the constructions works were done the marketeers would have easy access to the market and farmers would be able to follow them and sell them fresh produce.

“As an MP for Kanyama, I am very thankful to all the companies that came to the constituency and helped us do our usual KZCGHC that takes place at the last Saturday of very month.

“During the cleaning exercise companies contributed water, food stuffs and detergent paste, among others, and equipment and AVIC also donated over 600 metres of tarred road to be done for free to be constructed in Kanyama,” Ms Phiri said.

She said not only would AVIC make the road but would also make culverts to help control the floods that usually happened during the rainy season.
