MUKULA LADEN TRUCK IMPOUNDED: AS POLICE HOLD FOREIGN DRIVER SEFU HUSSEIN TO HELP WITH INVESTIGATIONS

POLICE in Nakonde have impounded a foreign registered truck laden with mukula logs at Nakonde -Mbala check point, Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Joel Njase has confirmed.
Mr Njase said the incident happened on Sunday between 04:00 and 05:00 hours.
He said the truck registration number T483 DDP Trailer number T735BXX laden with mukula logs was believed to have loaded between Chinsali and Isoka.
Mr Njase said the driver Sefu Hussein aged 43 was currently in police custody and the truck was parked at the police station.
Mr Njase has warned that the police command in the region would firmly deal with anyone engaging in illicit mukula dealings.
“The provincial Police command wish to warn all those involved in illegal mukula deals in Muchinga or from any part of the region but intending to pass through that we shall they shall be dealt with accordingly,” Mr Njase said.
Mr Njase warned police officers against being compromised by allowing trucks laden with mukula to pass through the check points.
“My warning also goes to men in uniform who at times become compromised and allow these trucks to pass through security check points that their days are numbered,” he said.
Mr Njase said it was important to note that Zambia’s limited natural resources must be utilised strategically to yield positive economic development of the country.
