A 10- YEAR-OLD girl of Sakayambila village of Chief Kanyama in Mwinilunga has died while a five year-old-boy is battling for his life in the local district hospital after being struck by lightning.
North-western Province commissioner of police Hudson Namachila confirmed the incident which happened yesterday around 17:00 hours.
He identified the deceased as Miriam Sakayambila and the survivor as Elias Kaputula.
“Miriam was in the house together with others while it was raining and in the process was struck by lightning resulting in her death,” Mr Namachila said.
He said Police inspected the body which was brought at the clinic and noticed her tongue had turned blackish while whitish stuff was coming from the nostrils.
He said the body was deposited in the mortuary awaiting burial as no foul play was suspected while boy was receiving treatment.
