SUSPECTED WIZARD AXED TO DEATH

A MAN of Kangwila Village in Serenje District identified as Sali Chisenga has been murdered on suspicion of practicing witchcraft.
Acting police spokesperson Danny Mwale who confirmed the incident said Mr Chisenga was occurred on August 30 around 09:00 hours.
In a statement, Mr Mwale said a 34-year-old male suspect Neward Kalunga has been apprehended and detained in connection with the murder.
“Police in Central Province are holding a 34 year old man identified as Neward Kalunga for the offence of murder which occurred on 30 August, around 09.00 hours at Kangwila Village in Serenje District,
“It is alleged that Mr Sali Chisenga was murdered on suspicion of practicing witchcraft,” Mr Mwale said.
Mr Mwale said Mr Chisenga sustained a deep cut on the head after he was axed during the attack on him.
He said the body of the deceased was deposited in Serenje District Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
Meanwhile, Mr Mwale said three people died while six others survived with injuries when a motor vehicle, Toyota Regius registration number BAA 9081 in which they were travelling overturned on Sesheke-Senanga Road on August 30, around 08.00 hours.
He identified the dead as Monica Nabulambo ,48 Rona Nambeya age not known and a female juvenile identified as Kerah Mulenga aged 2 all of Kalomo.
The injured were named as Alonasi Bulambo,55 Vasco Wina, 34, Yonifa Sialoba, 55 Astridah Mukuka,25 and Victor Kalaluka,25 all of the same town.
He said the driver identified as Fanny Afumba,49 of Mongu escaped unhurt and was currently detained in custody.
Mr Mwale said the incident happened when the driver lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed which caused the vehicle to overturn several times.
He said the injured were admitted to Yeta District Hospital while bodies of the deceased were also deposited in the same hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
