THE Zambia volleyball association (ZAVA) national league has gone on recess for 21 days effective August 30.
The recess would also allow for the opening of the player transfer window which will last the duration of the recess period until September 20.
ZAVA general secretary Gift Chesekela told the Sun that the recess would give teams time to reorganize after the ongoing beach volleyball tour and also to finalize all national league pending administrative obligations.
The Beach volleyball tour was currently being held at Chirundu’s Machembere Lodge and has attracted 11 local teams and 7 foreign ones which includes three mens and four womens teams.
One team was from Botswana while six were from Zimbabwe with the next tour slated for Samfya in October.
“This recess will give teams time to reorganize after the beach volleyball tour and a call by the affiliates to finalize all national league pending administrative obligations,” Chesekela said.
He said ZAVA had invited the Zimbabwe and Botswana beach volleyball teams to participate in the national beach volleyball Machembere Tour in Chirundu.
The tournament was open to all volleyball teams and was set to run from August 30 to September 1.
Participation fees have been pegged at K500 per team for senior teams, while corporate teams were expected to K1 000 per team.
