THERE is need for African countries to come together to ensure that they fight the economic crisis among themselves efficiently, says Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo.
Mr Lusambo said African countries have a lot to offer to each other ranging from tourism, mining, and aqua culture among others.
He was speaking when a Zimbabwean delegation led by that country’s High Commissioner to Zambia Gertrude Takawira paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Lusaka.
Mr Lusambo reiterated that it was his government’s desire to deal with fellow African countries and learn from each other’s successes on the economic front
He said Zambia and Zimbabwe should work together in boosting the economy, adding that the forefathers laid a foundation by fighting the political struggle hence the need to fight the economic war together.
He noted that the Zambian government was eager to learn from its neighbouring countries and tap the skills for the betterment of the economy.
The Provincial Minister also noted that there was need to come up with another one-stop border post between Zambia and Zimbabwe to decongest the Chirundu post.
And Ms Takawira said the twinning programme would help the two countries harmonize various sectors through the exchange programmes.
She said that one of the programmes to be undertaken by the two twinning countries was the launch of a pontoon on Luangwa River to ease the movements of people of the two countries.
Ms Takawira noted that there was a lot of tourism potential in Zimbabwe’s Mashonaland central hence the need for the two countries to collaborate.-ZANIS
