KATETE District Council (KDC) has appealed to all visitors to the district during
the forthcoming Kulamba Traditional Ceremony to respect the rule of law.
Council public relations officer, Clarence Kaoma, said the visitors must conduct themselves and business in accordance with the Chewa traditional requirements.
“The local authority is urging the public and tourists among
other people attending the annual event to comply and respect the rule of law
during this period,” he said.
“In the same vein, let us all ensure that we observe and respect the road
transport and safety rules to avoid accidents,” Mr. Kaoma said.
He warned the visitors against indulging in illicit activities as it could be
fatal.
The local authority appealed to the residents to warmly welcome the visitors to
the district.
“We advise and encourage Katete residents to exhibit a great sense of
hospitality to our visitors,” he said.
“This is not only a time to celebrate the Kulamba Ceremony but to unite as
Chewa people coming from across southern Africa,” said Mr. Kaoma.
Meanwhile, the Council has also cautioned people against indiscriminate disposal
of waste as they visit Katete to celebrate the traditional ceremony.
