GOVERNMENT has praised Inter- City boxing academy on its initiative to rehabilitate and reform young people through sport.

Minister of sport and youth Development Emmanuel Mulenga said his ministry would partner with the boxing stable because it was being practical in its initiatives.

Mulenga said the stables was practical in the sense that it had brought together youths from across Zambia by nurturing them , developing talent and exposing them so as to compete on the international stage.

He said Government would look for means and ways to partner with the Bg academy in its upcoming tournament slated for Mulungushi International Conference Centre on September 7.

The minister said it was impressive to note that the academy had not gone out begging from anyone but instead went out of its way by using its little resources to make sure talent was nurtured.

“So what you are trying to do here is to raise stars in the boxing fraternity and as minister in charge of sport, I think we will partner and work with you,’’ Mulenga said.

“As ministry we will see how we will partner with you because you are being practical in the sense that you have brought together youths, nurtured them and you are trying to expose them so that they can compete on the international stage.

And FAZ president Andrew Kamanga who visited the academy’s camp house paid tribute to the initiative saying that it was through such that more boxers would be exposed and allowed to compete at the highest level.

Kamanga who was invited to grace a training session said he was happy with what the academy had done and urged the boxers to repay their promoter by winning medals.

Academy promotions director Francis Muchemwa said they came up with a boxing academy from all the provinces to empower young boxers.
