A MAN of Mwense District in Luapula Province who had gone into hiding after beating his wife to death has been apprehended and detained in police custody.
Acting police spokesperson, Danny Mwale, confirmed the capture of Daniel Kabaso who is reported to have beaten his 36-year-old wife, Jessie Mwape, of Kapakala East area to death after he found her in a very drunken state last Sunday around 01:00 hours.
Ms Mwape reportedly died from the deed cuts she sustained on her head, legs, and arms which Kabaso inflicted on her.
Mr Mwale confirmed to the Sun yesterday that Kabasoe was cornered by the Police in Mwense.
“Refer to the recent murder which occurred on August 25, 2019 at Kapakala East Village in Mwense in which a housewife Jessie Mwape was beaten to death by her husband Daniel Kabaso, be informed that the suspect (Kabaso) was apprehended and is in police custody,” Mr Mwale said.
On Monday, Mr Mwale told the Sun in a statement that Kabaso was on the run and police were vigorously pursuing him.
He said police visited the murder scene and found Ms Mwape’s body with cuts on the head, legs, and arms.
Mr Mwale said Ms Mwape’s body has since been deposited in the Mwense District Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
