THREE people have drowned while two survived after the boat they were in capsized on Lake Mweru in Nchelenge district.
Acting Police Spokesperson Danny Mwale confirmed the incident and named the dead as Joseph Mwape, 26, Bernard Kasongo aged 22 and Emmanuel Mwansa, 27 all of Nchelenge District in Luapula Province.
Mr Mwale said the incident happened on August 22, between 04.00 and 05.00 hours when the boat they were in while fishing capsized due to strong winds.
“Three people drowned while two survived after the boat they were in capsized on Lake Mweru in Nchelenge District.
“The bodies of the deceased have not yet been retrieved,” he said.
Mr Mwale said Rogers Mwape and Fewdays Nsama aged 25 and 26 respectively managed to swim to safety.
