`ILOMBA’ PASTOR ARRESTED

POLICE in Kitwe have arrested a 33 year  old Pastor in Chamboli township of Kitwe after his prophesy allegedly sparked a riot which left 15 vehicles damaged by irate residents.

Copperbelt Police Commissioner Charity Katanga confirmed the arrest of Richard Zulu, a Pastor at Tabernacle Solution Ministries in Chamboli township in Kitwe together with other 12 suspects.

On Monday, more than 50 people were arrested in Chamboli township of Kitwe and 15 vehicles damaged in a riot which was allegedly parked by a prophesy from the Pastor that a member of the Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU) was involved in witch-craft and was keeping an Ilomba at the CCPU offices at Mogadishu ground.

Ms Katanga said Zulu together  with the other 12 suspects were arrested during an operation conducted in Chamboli township in the early hours of yesterday from about 01:30hours to 04:30hours.

She said Zulu is believed to have caused alarm and sparked a riot in the township after he allegedly prophesied that a member of CCPU Luka Mwamba was involved in witch-craft and was keeping an Ilomba at the CCPU offices at Mogadishu ground.

She said the Pastor has been charged with proposing violence or breaches of law to assemblies contrary to section 91 (1) (a) (b).

“Refer to an operation conducted in Chamboli township today 13 August 2019 from about 01:30hours to 04:30hours in which 12 suspects were arrested namely Richard Zulu, a Pastor at Tabernacle Solution Ministries in Chamboli township.

“This Pastor is believed to have caused alarm and sparked the riot on Monday which left a trail of destruction where 15 vehicles including two police vehicles were damaged. He has been charged with proposing violence or breaches of law to assemblies contrary to section 91 (1) (a) (b),” Ms Katanga said.

The Coppebelt Police Chief said others who were arrested during the operation were Jeston Muchinshi  aged 22 of house number 16 Chamboli, Ephraim Bwalya, 23 of house number  K116 Chamboli , Lawrence Mwaba, 21 of house number k 104 .

Others were Maximal Chama aged 19 of house number j224 , Peter Shula, 22 of house number 435 , Francis Chilekwe, 21 of house number j 364 Yoram Kalenga, 24 house number m245 Aanshel Chipenge, 21 of house number j 84, Kennedy Mayang, 20 of house number m209, Golden Mwewa,  20 of house number m 66 and Laurent Mukumbi, 23 of k183

She said all of them are detained at Kitwe Central Police Station for the offences of malicious damage and riotous behaviour.
