More funds needed to end examination malpractice – ZANEC

Written by on August 9, 2019

The Zambia National Education Coalition ZANEC has observed that little is being done to address examination malpractices in the education sector.

And ZANEC has noted that for the problem to be adequately tackled, more funding needs to be channelled towards examinations’ security.

In an interview, ZANEC Executive Director, George Hamusunga says while pronouncements that culprits will be punished have been made, nothing has been done to safeguard examination materials.

Mr. Hamusunga further indicates that most schools do not have proper storage facilities for examination materials, and in some cases, those who administer exams carry them using their own means.

And Mr. Hamusunga has implored government to clearly state how it will fund examinations following its move to reduce examinations fees.

During the recently held GEC examinations, 10 candidates in Lusaka were arrested for allegedly being in possession of leaked examination materials.
