PUPILS at Lusaka’s Shakespeare School have been urged to work hard if they have to succeed academically.

Lusaka Mayor Miles Sampa made this observation when he visited the private school Thursday situated in the city’s Kabulonga residential area.

In a statement to the Sun, the mayor observed that the future and development of the nation depended on its cadre of educated citizens.

“I want to encourage you to work hard at school so that you can attain high marks and progress to the next level of education,” he said.

And a pupil, Sepo Ng’andu, thanked the mayor for finding time to interact with them.

Ms Ng’andu said Mr Sampa’s visit to the school symbolized the importance the mayor attached to education and to the well-being of young people.

“Your Worship I want to thank you, on behalf of my fellow pupils, for funding time to come and interact with us,” she said.

Ms Ng’andu pledged that the pupils at the school would support the Mayor’s quest to keep Lusaka clean by participating in the Make Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy Campaign and the Operation Busaka programmes.

Meanwhile, head teacher, Ms. Kalale, thanked the Mayor for his gesture and humbleness by accepting the invitation to go and lecture to pupils at her school.
