Expelled pupil commits suicide

A 16-Year-Old grade 11 pupil at Mpika Boys Secondary School has committed suicide in Chinsali district after being expelled from school.

Muchinga Province Commissioner of Police Joel Njase said the boy took some tablets on Thursday around 18:00 hours in Chinsali Hospital Compound.

“We received a report on Thursday around 20:00 hours from Mwiya George aged 42, of Kapwepwe Compound, Chief Nkula’s area of Chinsali, that he identified the body of his nephew, Mwiya Libala, aged 16 of Chinsali Hospital Compound, Chief Nkula’s area of Chinsali district, also a grade 11 pupil at Mpika Boys Secondary and Boarding School who was found dead and lying on the bed in his bedroom,” Mr Njase said.

He said the boy was discovered by his younger sister of the same address.

Mr Njase said the Libala was believed to have taken an overdose of the tablets which were recovered on the bed and in the pockets of the trousers.

He said three used condom and one unused one were also found in Libala’s trousers pocket.

Mr Njase said the motive behind the suicide was that of him being expelled from school.

“Physical inspections were made and no visible injuries were seen. Hence the body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary awaiting burial and the family suspects no foul play,” he said.

He did not give the for the boy’s expulsion.

Meanwhile, police in Chama district have arrested two people of Isoka district for being in possession of fake K100 notes amounting to K10,000.

Mr Njase said the suspects were arrested as they tried to deposit 23 K100 notes amounting to K2,300 at an Airtel mobile money agent at Chama Market in Chief Kambombo’s area.

He named the suspects as Gershom Sichimata, 32, and Steve Musango, 32, both of Isoka.

Mr Njase said all the notes were bearing serial number FF12827921.

“The suspects [are] currently detained in police custody and money recovered,” Mr Njase said.

And Mr Najse says a woman of Chama Ddistrict has been killed by a buffalo in Kachila Senga in Chief Chkwa’s area.

“Information reaching Chama police is that a buffalo has killed a woman, Victoria Chibanga, of Kapichila Senga area, Chief Chikwa’s area,” he said.
