Retired transport officer loses administratorship

A RETIRED transport officer of Chilenje South has lost his administratorship in the local court after he was sued by his niece.
The Chilenje Local Court stopped Charles Mumba, 61 from performing the role of an administrator after he was successful sued by his niece Monde Mumba, 26, a Zanaco sales agent.
Monde said the Charles was his uncle and was chosen as an administrator of the property because she too young at the time of her mother’s death.
“My late mother built a two bedroomed house and there are people renting,” she said.
Monde complained that Charles ’s brother collected rentals instead of them who were the legal beneficiaries.
“I want my uncle to be revoked from the positon of administrator because we have grown up. I and my two sisters can manage the estate now,” he said.
The two were appearing before senior local magistrate Ackim Phiri sitting with senior local court magistrate Harriet Mbewe.
In defence Charles told the court that he was the administrator of her late sister’s estate but had no problem in stepping down from the role as administrator because the children had indeed grown up.
Charles suggested that all the three children could be appointed as administrators.
“I want things to be in their hands because they are mature and can use the money from the rentals to further their education,” he said.
The claim was upheld and revocation granted.
