A TRADITIONAL leader in Siavonga has called for the reformation of local court justice system in Zambia because currently there is no justice in it.

Mr. Rogers Kandama who is Kanyelele compound headman said in an interview with the Sun that currently 99percent of judgments from the local courts were not fair but biased.

He said there was urgent need for the current crop of the people administering justice in local courts to go for training to learn how to discharge justice.

“If you go to the Local court you will discover that people are now made to swear by the Bible, the thing which never used to happen in the past and which is not supposed to be the case,” he said.

He said as a headman he had on several occasions attended local court sessions and that what he had discovered was that real justice did not exist in the lowest courts.

Mr. Kandama said that because of the injustices in the local courts, the magistrates and high courts were re full of appeals from the same courts.

He said while the people of Zambia appreciated the role the local courts played in dispensing justice in civil matters, those given the mandate to preside over cases must do it with high integrity.
