A Lusaka man has been ordered to pay K8, 000 virginity damage in the Chilenje Local court.
Samson Mwale, 26 of Bauleni compound was sued by Bernard Nkoma, 50, of the same area.
Nkoma said Mwale damaged his 16 year old daughter who consequently fell pregnant.
He said Mwale was then charged K12, 000 as compensation for damage in June last year.
Nkoma said Mwale agreed and signed and promised to pay K1, 000 as his first installment.
“Months passed without hearing from him and failed to come when we summoned him. After some months he came to my house and left a K500. I was not home I was just told,
“From that time there has been no support up to the time my child gave birth. My daughter was at school in grade seven by then and I want her to return to school,” he said.
The two were appearing before senior local court magistrate Ackim Phiri.
In defence Mwale said he was charged K12,000 child maintenance and K2,000 dowry.
“I agreed to pay the money but things became hard for me. I had no finances to pay them. I agree I damaged his daughter and I will pay,
“There was a time she’s came to my house and told me that her father doesn’t want my money or any support because of delays to pay,” he said.
He further told the court that he had been banned from seeing his child.
The court ordered Mwale to pay K8,000 compensation for damage with the first installment of K1,000 effective July.
