A WOMAN of Lusaka has sued her husband of 23 years for divorce on allegation that he does not support the family.
Phanelly Daka,35, of Lusaka’s Chainda compound told Chelstone senior local court magistrate Charity Milambo sitting with presiding magistrate Kennedy Mutale that her husband Samson Daka,47, of the same area had never been supportive..
Phanelly told court that apart from that, Samson did not care for her and her and their seven children, adding that she had never known peace.
“My husband doesn’t give me any money whenever I ask him, we have seven children together but he doesn’t support them at all. I am the one who does everything at home because of some piece works I am doing,
“We tried to sit down with the family alas, the situation worsened. At one point my husband got sick and I am the one who nursed him until he got well,” she said.
She further said that her husband went to stay with another woman after he recovered from his sick bed.
In defence, Daka said his wife used to abandon him the time he was sick and was not there to show love and care as a wife.
“When I was sick my wife never used to care about me, she could go in the morning and come back in the evening without checking whether I had eaten or not,
“She at one point went to my company where I used to work to make some noise and that’s when I got fired. Otherwise I do give support,” he said.
But Phanelly quickly retorted: “All I want is divorce and children support from him.”
Court found out that the couple was just cohabiting because dowry was not paid.
It then advised Phanelly to sue Daka for children maintenance.
