Stanchart trains over 8,000 youths in financial skills

STANDARD Chartered Bank Zambia has trained over 8,000 youths across the country since 2015 under its Financial Education for Youth (FE4Y) training programme.

Bank’s chief financial officer Venus Hampinda said financial education was a key driver of financial capability and provided individuals with the skills to take control of their finances.

Ms Hampinda said research identified lack of financial capability as a key barrier to financial inclusion especially among vulnerable populations such as youths.

Speaking when bank staff held financial skills training for over 70 youths at Kitwe’s SoS Village over the weekend.

“This is why we remain fully committed to building financial capability among Zambian youths through our Financial Education for Youth (FE4Y) training programme. We aim to influence behavioural change and engrain financial responsibility at an early age.

 “Since we launched FE4Y in 2015, Standard Chartered Bank staff have trained over 8,000 youths across Zambia. This year, we aim to raise the bar,

“We started by training over 400 youths during the 2019 Financial Literacy Week, and remain committed to ensure that we reach as many young Zambians as we can,” Ms Hampinda said.
