NHA owes K29 Million in salary arrears

The Auditor General’s report has revealed that National Housing Authority-NHA has accumulated salary arrears to employees amounting to over K29 million as at 31st December 2018.

The 2017 report on the Accounts of Parastatal Bodies and other statutory institutions indicates that the over K29 million is translated to 13 months of unpaid employees’ salaries.

The report further reveals that as at 31st December 2017, NHA owed over K2 million as outstanding gratuity payments to members of staff.

During the period under review, NHA also accumulated amounts totaling over K35 million in 2015, which increased to K42 million in 2016 and K49 million in 2017,  in unremitted statutory obligations to the Zambia Revenue Authority-ZRA, NAPSA, the workers compensation fund control board and the Local Authority Superannuation Fund.
