Coffin abandoned in family burial feud

There was drama this morning after a family failed to agree where to bury a deceased family member who drowned in Kasupe last week.
Benjamin Mwale aged 25, drowned on 27th April 2019 at about 1100 hrs at Tubalange dam in Lusaka West.
This happened after he had gone swimming in the company of Moses Phiri and Allan Phiri, all of Chawama compound whilst attending a Zion Church International camp meeting which began on 22nd April.2019 to 28th April.2019.
The Body of the deceased was retrieved with the help of members of the public on the 29th April 2019 at around 09:30 hours and was deposited in UTH mortuary.
But yesterday drama started after the family failed to agree where the deceased was to be durried.
According to eyewitnesses, a former police reserve only identified as Mandevu the uncle to the deceased caused commotion after he allegedly refused to have his nephew buried in Lusaka.
All Hell broke loose after the family from the deceased mother’s side refused to have the body repatriated to Monze where Mr. Mandevu wanted to have his nephew buried.
The body of the deceased was abandoned on Chifundo road in Chawama for 7 hours after the family failed to agree on the way forward.
Millennium Radio news crew that rushed to the scene managed to talk to eyewitnesses on the scene.
