Cholera contained in Mpulungu

Government says it has successfully contained the cholera outbreak in Mpulungu District of Northern Province after a multi-sectoral response.

Ministry of health head of media relations Stanslous Ngosa says the outbreak, which recorded a total of seven cases with two laboratories confirmed, recorded no death and No new case has been recorded since 10 April 2019.  

Mr. Ngosa says in a bid to control the spread, the Ministry enhanced surveillance and case finding thereby identifying suspected cases and ensuring timely treatment.

He also says health promotion activities in all communities have been heightened and will continue in order to prevent the disease.

Mr. Ngosa says Members of the public are thus reminded to adhere to hygienic standards and remain vigilant to avoid recurrence of the outbreak.
