President Edgar Lungu has expressed optimism that the National Dialogue Forum will help iron out issues among political parties and citizens at large.
Speaking when he officially opened the forum at Mulungushi conference centre this morning, president Lungu urged all participants to contribute positively.
President Lungu is also hopeful that the forum will culminate in the widely acceptable amendments of the said bills.
The national dialogue forum is being held to consider amendments to the public order act, electoral process, political party’s bill and the constitution.
And forum chairperson Muyunda Mwanalushi says frequent reviews of a constitution are not good for the country as it has the potential to disturb development.
Professor Mwanalushi urged government to work towards building trust among its citizens in order to enhance confidence and unity.
And professor Mwanalushi has adjourned the sitting to tomorrow in order to allow more time to the delegates to study the contents of the bills and deliberate from an informed perspective.
Meanwhile UPND Nalikwanda constituency Member of Parliament Professor Geoffrey Lungwangwa has dispelled rumors that UPND members were barred from attending the national dialogue forum but it was an individual decision of whether to attend or shun.
