212 accidents during Easter holiday recorded.

The Zambia Police has disclosed it recorded a total number of 212 accidents in the just- ended Easter holiday.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo says out of 212 accident ,14 were fatal in which 15 persons were killed ,27 were serious road traffic accidents in which 33 persons were seriously injured, 45 were Slight road traffic accidents in which 54 persons were slightly injured.

Ms Katongo says Lusaka Province recorded the highest number of road traffic accidents with 108 whilst Northern Province recorded the least with 04 road traffic accidents.

She says the total number of the accident recorded represents reduction of the road accident compared 260 road traffic accidents were recorded as compared to 212

MEANWHILE Ms Katongo says a total number of 7,114 road traffic accidents were reported in the first quarter of 2019.

Ms Katongo says 331 were fatal road traffic accidents in which 402 persons were killed, 667 were serious road traffic accidents in which 1,118 persons were seriously injured, 1,291 were slight road traffic accidents in which 1,730 persons were slightly injured and 4,825 were damage only road traffic accidents.

She says Lusaka and Copperbelt Provinces recorded the highest number of road traffic accidents with 3743 and 1285 respectively whilst Western Province recorded the least with 126 road traffic accidents.
