Second victim dies in police officer and Chainama student lover conflict

A second victim identified as Albert Chinungo from a love struck violent police officer’s shooting rampage earlier this morning has died from Intensive Care Unit ICU at Levy Mwanawasa Teching Hospital where he was receiving treatment after being shot on the forehead.

This is in a matter where a police officer is on the run after stabbing a student of Chainama Health College with a military knife on suspicion that the victim was having an affair with the officer’s ex-girlfriend.

Police Spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo explains that the fugitive police officer identified as Constable Jackson Mwanza caused a shooting incident between 07 00 hours and 08 00 hours when he went to Chinama Health College where he shot a first year clinical officer student identified as Andrew Zimba aged 20 years of Mulungushi hostel in his left leg and bruised his left thigh.

Mrs. Katongo says the police officer further went to Mtendere Sochabe garage where he found his girlfriend chatting with two mechanics and began shooting and shot dead Dickson Mwanza aged 32 of Mtendere on his right chest and left leg, while Albert Chinungo was shot on his forehead and has since died.

She says the officer also tried looking for his girlfriend who had run away and ended up shooting her friend Felistus Tembo aged 23 on her right arm.

This incident all started yesterday in which a case of unlawful wounding was reported at Ben Mwiinga Police Post in PHI in which a student at Chinama Health College identified as Nike Fungulwa was stabbed in the head, shoulder and on the arm by the fugitive police officer using a military knife.

Mrs. Katongo says earlier yesterday, at about 1700 hours, the officer allegedly went to the room of the student to confront him on suspicion that he had an affair with the officer’s girl friend aged 24 of Mtendere compound but was stabbed at within police premises by the police officer who is now in hiding.
