Police officer stabs Chainama student; shoots four over ex-girlfriend

A police officer is on the run after stabbing a student of Chainama Health College with a military knife on suspicion that the victim was having an affair with the officer’s ex-girlfriend.

And the police officer identified as Constable Jackson Mwanza went on rampage shooting four people in Mtendere compound when he confronted the same woman in question of which one is reported to have died.

Police Spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo has identified the victim as Nike Fungulwa aged 26, a student at Chainama Health College who was confronted at his home yesterday around 17:00 by the officer who was in uniform as to why he was having an affair with his ex-girlfriend aged 24.

Mrs. Katongo has told Millennium Radio that the victim ran to Ben Mwiinga Police in PHI but the officer also confronted the ex-girlfriend who was at work in Mtendere and pepper sprayed the room where she was but managed to escape and also ran to Ben Mwiinga Police.

Mrs. Katongo says the assailant who is at large followed the two at the police station where he became unruly and used the military knife to stab the student in the head, shoulder and arm and has since been admitted to Levy Mwanawasa Hospital.

She says the police officer ran away at the time officers at Ben Mwiinga police tried to arrest him and is currently at large.
