TRADERS at Lusaka’s Kaunda Square Stage 2 market have appealed to Government to empower them with soft loans to expand their businesses.
One of the traders Ms Mildred Kangwa said the market attracted many customers with different taste for goods and services.
Ms Kangwa explained in an interview with the Sun that traders were ready to expand their businesses but fell short of resources.

“We are asking Government to assist us with soft loans so that we can grow our businesses. We have seen our friends in other markets being empowered but here there is nothing of the sort,” she said.
Ms Kangwa emphasised that the traders were willing to repay their loans once they expanded the market.

Another trader, Mwangala Muyunda pleaded with Government to put up proper structures at the market.
According to her, most traders were having challenges with their business as they did not have proper structures to trade from.
“Look at us now, with the rains doping their rounds our goods are being soaked. This affects our business very much as we depend on it for our survival,” she said.
