YOUTHS in the central business district (CBD) of Lusaka have found themselves a business opportunity by ferrying people on their backs due to flooding.

The youths said in separate interviews that they were cashing in well with the idea especially to those that completely have nothing to do to earn some money.

Innocent Chiyaba, a youth and business man of Kanyama compound said he has made good money in the two days that he had been ferrying people besides selling drinking water.
Mr. Chiyaba said that he had been able to take bread, sugar and relish to his family,

“I am doing better now compared to how I do when selling water. I know that the business is out of the usual but it is giving us money at the moment,” he said.

He said that he made not less than K350 a day from ferrying people on his back, stressing that making such an amount of money in a day was like a nightmare.
He further said he did not wish for the floods to continue but that it was also giving them a good opportunity to earn money and have better lives.
He said that it was more like getting money for free because he did not need to spend money to order things for resale saying that was only thing what was needed.
Another youth, William Zulu of Chawama compound called on the youths that were busy taking intoxicating substances to emulate them and stop stealing and attacking people in the communities.
