IN a bid to exchange experiences in football organization, FAZ has turned to Croatia to partner with that country’s soccer federation, says communications manager Mwazi Sakala Chanda

Ms Chanda confirmed that FAZ president Andrew Kamanga has recently visited Croatia for the same purpose.

According to a statement Ms Chanda said Kamanga was welcomed by  the president of the Croatian Football Federation Davor Šuker  in Zagreb, where he arrived to exchange experiences on football organization.

He said the visit had been monumental as it had given him an insight into how football is organized in that country.

Kamanga also met with head of the international and licensing department Ivančica Sudac, teaching expert at the HNS Football Academy Boris Kubla, head instructor Petar Krpan and youth national team’s secretary Josip Tomaško.

Petar Krpan also presented the youth development system that produced Croatia’s World Cup silver medalists, as well as the youth competitions system in that country and the success of all Croatia’s national teams.

“Croatia finished third in the World Cup in 1998, and those players passed on their knowledge to the current generation that has brought Croatia the silver medal,” he said.
“In Zambia, we have a lot of talented players, and our biggest challenge has been making sure that this talent becomes world-class – we need the coaching and the technical structures to raise our game to a level where we can compete regionally and globally. We have seen the results that Croatia has delivered,”

“They are second in the world now, but I will not be surprised if they make it to the top and become number one because all of the structure and the systems are working,” said Kamanga

Kamanga observed that if  Zambia could replicate what was being done in Croatia in terms of coaching education and youth development, Zambian football would be transformed to ably compete at a world level.
