Over 70 thousand liters of Smuggled Cooking Oil has been donated to various health institutions, Correctional Services and David Kaunda Technical Secondary School in Lusaka.
Zambia Revenue Authority -ZRA – Commissioner General Kingsley Chanda says the authority has invoked cap 322 of the customs and excise act which gives the Commissioner Powers to dispose of perishable goods that have been smuggled into the country.
Mr. Chanda says the decision to seize and forfeit smuggled items is intended to stop smuggling.
And Zambia Correctional Services Deputy Commissioner General Loyd Chilunduka says the cooking oil will go a long way in mitigating the huge bill of feeding over 22,000 inmates in Zambia.
