THE Millers Association of Zambia has advised members to adhere to President Edgar Lungu‘s directive not to export mealie meal and maize until government concludes stocking for the food reserves.
President Lungu has directed the Ministry of Agriculture to immediately suspend the exportation of maize and mealie-meal until Zambia takes stock of the food reserves following the dry spell experienced in some parts of the country.
MAZ President Andrew Chintala says millers should adhere to President Lungu’s directive as the suspension is temporal and will not extensively affect their business.
Mr Chintala says there is need for millers and other traders to know that the decision to suspend the exports of maize and mealie meal is being done in the best interest of the nation.
