President Edgar Lungu has accepted the Roan Constituency parliamentary by-election defeat.

The ruling Patriotic Front has failed to defend its Roan Constituency parliamentary seat after losing it to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

NDC’s Joseph Chishala polled 8, 665 beating his closest rival Joel Chibuye of the Patriotic Front who polled 5,533 votes.

But The President says in as much as it is not the result that he desired , the people have spoken, and that is what democracy calls for.

He has since called for serious introspection within the ruling PF.

And President Lungu has signed into law the the national dialogue Bill.

Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations, Amos Chanda says the president assented to the  bill into law.

Meanwhile Party secretary General Davies Mwila says the results ended Roan constituency by elections did not go in the way of the PF but that the party still receives it with thanks giving.

Mr. Mwila says the ruling party will carry out a postmortem of this painful setback and ensure that it regain the footprint in the Constituency.

And Mr. Mwila has refuted reports that he said he would resign from his position if the party lost the election to NDC
