A COUPLE that has been on separation for 6 years appeared at the Matero Local Court for reconciliation which failed due to threats and interference from the man’s mother.
In a matter that came before Magistrate Miyanda Banda, Maggie Chanda, 28, of Kabanana sued her husband Kennedy Nsama, 30, of the same compound for reconciliation
Chanda told the court that they got married in 2010 and have one child, but that their problems started in 2014, when she had an argument with her mother in law.
“We used to send her money monthly but there was a month in which I asked my husband if we could send money to my mother because she was also in need of help,
“I got a K500 which I sent to my mum. I bought a few foods stuffs and took them to my mother in law so that I could explain why we didn’t send her money that month,” said Chanda
Chanda said later her mother in law called and demanded to speak to her husband during which she was insulted.
She said that ever since she left the matrimonial home Nsama had he never followed her to find out how she was living.
“I am the one that brings our son to visit him and each time I come he forces me to have sex with him,” said Chanda
Nsama denied any problems in their marriage or chasing away his wife.
“We did not argue, I tried to beg her to stay and I even told her that my mum is not my wife but her, but all that was in vain,
“This is why I want to marry another woman since I saw that she is not coming back. I love her but she does not love me,” said Nsama”.
The court told Nsama that he had a stronger voice to sit her down and it had not heard him say that Chanda insulted his mother.
It ultimately ruled a failed reconciliation and advised either party to sue for divorce.
